Albany Pharmacy Claims Women's Cross Country Championship; SUNY ESF's Rachel Joyce Wins Individual Title

MILTON, N.Y. – SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry sophomore Rachel Joyce was the individual champion and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences placed five in the top 10 to win the 2019 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.

Joyce covered the 5-kilometer course in 21:00.2 posting the fastest winning time in four championships at the Sportsdome.

Junior Gianna D'Angelo followed in second place (21:50.8) and sophomore Marina Duszak (22:56.2) in third to lead the Albany Pharmacy to their first team title since 2016. Rounding out the scoring five for the Panthers were Patrica Romano in sixth (27:20.9), Amber Cina in seventh (27:21.3) and Kathleen Hanrahan in tenth (30:44.4). The Panthers were the only full scoring team in the three-team field.

The championship was originally scheduled for the weekend before but washed out due to heavy rains. The resulting make-up date saw a reduced field of just 10 finishers and three teams.
