2009 HVWAC Team Champions

Albany College of Pharmacy

In a very close and exciting team competition, Albany College of Pharmacy captures the 2009 HVWAC Team Championship in their first full varsity year of competition. The Panthers edged out Sarah Lawrence College and Culinary Institute of America by a single point. Led by Rebecca Nashett and Nicole Izzo who combined for four HVWAC Runner of the Week honors this season, the win was truly a team effort with all nine Panthers finishing better than almost half the field.

2009 HVWAC Individual Champion

Alyssa Beasley • College of New Rochelle Sophomore • Paramus, NJ (Paramus Catholic)

Alyssa Beasley led a field of nearly 50 runners to win the 2009 HVWAC individual championship by six seconds after finishing in third place last year as a freshman. The three-time HVWAC Runner of the Week had compiled three top 10 finishes this season and was coming off a third place finish at the Hunter Invitational prior to winning her first race this season.

2009 HVWAC Coach of the Year

Lowell Fisher  •  Culinary Institute of America

Culinary Institute of America head coach Lowell Fisher has been voted on by his peers as this year’s HVWAC Coach of the Year. After leading Culinary to a runner-up finish at last year’s championships, Fisher narrowly missed out on the championship by one point also missed repeating as runner-up by a tiebreaker. His runners have shown consistent improvement throughout the season and have peaked at the right time entering the championships.
