ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Led by overall individual champion Jackie DeGrandpre, The Culinary Institute of America had three of the top five finishers to capture a 25 point victory in the 2012 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships held at Bard College on Sunday afternoon.
It is the third straight individual title for DeGrandpre, who is a junior and earned top billing every championship she has competed in, also leading the Steels to their third staight team title. DeGrandpre covered the 5k course in 20:44 finishing 19 seconds faster than Mary Kauffman of Sarah Lawrence College, who was the top overall rookie. Rounding out the top three was DeGrandpre's teammate Brittany Ronan.
Steels head coach Lowell Fisher was selected by his peers as Coach of the Year for the fourth-straight year.
Pratt Institute took runner-up honors in the team competition producing five medalists, led by senior Allison Gadaleta who finished in 10th.
