Dix Hills, NY -  The Five Towns College men's soccer team opened up its inaugural season Saturday afternoon against defending 2018 HVIAC Champion SUNY ESF. A tough battle through two overtime periods saw the game end in a scoreless draw. The Sound team has shown to have high standards for the season and has proven the team will be a contender in the HVIAC.

A game of back-and-forth possession, the game saw 15 shots on goal between both sides. The Mighty Oaks had a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to convert on any opportunities. Five Towns' Robinson Munoz had a game-saving defensive save in the 93rd minute when a header from SUNY ESF's Luke Day off a corner kick nearly found the back of the net.

In his first collegiate game, freshman goalie Mouhamed Diop Dia handled the pressure of facing the reigning champions. Diop Dia had eight saves in the effort, including two diving saves in overtime minutes to keep the score even.

The men will face Webb Institute in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, September 11th at 4:30 PM at Five Towns College.
