All-HVIAC Men's Tennis Team Announced; Yarritu Named Player of the Year

FLUSHING, N.Y.—Led by 2015 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year Sergio Yarritu (The Woodlands, Texas) of Pratt Institute, the conference announced the members of the 2015 All-HVIAC Men's Tennis Team at the 2015 HVIAC Men's Tennis Championships.

Yarritu captured the overall singles and doubles title for the second straight season. The senior who garnered Player of the Week honors twice this season posted an unblemished record in singles and doubles play in conference play leading the Cannoneers to the regular season title.

St. Joseph's Matthew Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the 2015 Rookie of the Year, his improved play throughout the season moving him up the Bears lineup compiling a 3-2 singles record in league play at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Ten men were honored by the conference for outstanding play throughout the regular season. Three men are repeat winners.

Guiding Pratt to the regular season title for the third straight year, head coach Shawn Cummings was named 2015 Coach of the Year. Cummings collects the honor for the first time as men's head coach and has received the award twice as women's head coach.

The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards are selected by the men's tennis coaches in the conference.
