NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Led by Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Players of the Year Melanie Lopez Soto (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) of The College of New Rochelle and Emily Brown (Clarence, N.Y.) of the Culinary Institute of America, the 2015 All-HVIAC Women’s Volleyball Team was announced at the conclusion of the HVIAC Tournament.
Lopez Soto, a three-time Player of the Week and the 2015 HVIAC Tournament MVP, posted league bests of 73 assists and 24 services aces during a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play this season.
Brown, a one-time Player of the Week, was the most efficient hitter in the league at .320 and ranked third in the league in kills (3.33) and blocks (.44) per set.
Culinary Institute freshman Megan Read (Gainsville, Fla.) garnered Rookie of the Year honors finishing sixth in the league in kills (2.44) and third in aces (1.00) per set.
First-year head coach Alyssa Kaufman of the College of New Rochelle took home Coach of the Year honors, guiding the Blue Angels to an unblemished record in league play without dropping a set.
In total, 10 women were honored with All-HVIAC recognition for outstanding play during the regular season and five were repeat winners.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference's women's volleyball coaches.
