The Berkeley College of New York men's basketball team picked up a convincing victory Sunday afternoon, defeating the Culinary Institute of America Steels in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game by a score of 82-39 at CIA's Student Recreation Center in Hyde Park, NY. With the victory, the Knights put an end to their six-game losing streak, improving to a mark of 6-7 on the season, including a record of 2-1 in HVIAC competition, while the Steels' loss dropped them 5-4 overall, and 1-2 in HVIAC play for the 2013-2014 campaign.
In the victory for Berkeley College, the Knights had four players score in double figures, including senior center Elijah Craig who paced his squad by hitting seven of his nine shots from the floor and scoring 14 points. He also added 10 rebounds and two steals. Senior forward Danzel Whyte also had a double-double, as he netted 14 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Sophomore forwards Dandre Moore scored 12 points, grabbed three rebounds, dished three assists, and tallied three steals off of the bench, and senior guard Jovan Bovell added 11 points and eight assists.
No player scored in double figures for Culinary Institute of America. The Steels' top scorer on the afternoon was Ricardo Washington, who came off of the bench to contribute nine points. He also snatched five rebounds and tallied two steals, as well. Wayne McFarlane netted eight points, but connected on just three of his 12 attempts from the floor while turning the ball over seven times.
