Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #8)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #8 of the 2022-2023 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

 

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #8 of the 2022-2023 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

 

Malachi Faison (So., Forward) from Berkeley College is tabbed as Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Faison, in the span of two games against USCAA opponents, averaged 18 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and shot a stunning 69.5 percent from the field. Unfortunately, the Knights were not victorious, but Faison's performance earns this weeks honor.

 

Christopher Morris (Fr., Guard) of The Kings College scored 15 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and stole the ball 4 times in a loss to Villa Maria College. In spite of the loss his performance as a Freshman earns the honor of Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

 

Noteworthy performances, Mail Binen (Sr., Guard) from The Kings College. Binen scored 17 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, dished out 4 assists, and blocked 4 shots in a loss to HVIAC opponent, Villa Maria College. And, Karranja Bright (Fr., Forward) of Berkeley College averaged 10 points per game and shot an impressive 83.3% from the line, however the Knights dropped back-to-back games to USCAA opponents.

 

On the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC, the honorees are the following:

 

Amal (Cammy) Mahmoud (Sr., Forward) of Berkeley College earns the honor of Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Mahmoud averaged 15.3 points per game with while impressively shooting 50% from the field and grabbing 12.3 rebounds in a three game stretch for the Knights. Although she had back-to-back double-double performances, Berkeley College dropped all three games.
