SUNY ESF Wins Sixth Straight Conference Title

For the sixth time in eight years, the Mighty Oaks from SUNY ESF have won the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship. SUNY ESF the tournament #1 seed faced a very athletic and talented #2 seeded Five Town College.

The Mighty Oaks stuck first with an unassisted goal by Julia Smith giving SUNY ESF 1-0 lead over the Sound. As the first half came to a close, Abby Neill would find the foot of temmate Ryan Hesch, giving SUNY ESF a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.

Second half scoring came from a solo goal scored by Jessica Bolton around the 73:00 minute of play, and would be the final goal scored in a SUNY ESF 3-0 victory. Five Towns College Goalie, Jordan Tobin warded off a deluge of shorts. The Mighty Oaks attempted 37 shots and 12 on goal, Tobin saved 9 while only allowing 3.

The Mighty Oaks, Julia Smith, was named Tournament MVP.

SUNY ESF will wait for an at-large bid for this years USCAA National Soccer Tournament in Mid-November. The Mighty Oaks won the USCAA National title in 2021.
