WEST HARRISON, N.Y.—In the team's final league game of the season, Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer defeated Yeshiva University, 3-1, in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Silver Lake Park on Tuesday. With the victory, the Gryphons clinched a postseason appearance in their first year as a varsity program.

Sarah Lawrence (3-9-1, 3-2-1 HVIAC) took an early lead when senior Sofie Jokela (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) netted the game's first goal in the eighth minute. SLC out-shot the Maccabees by an 8-2 margin in the first half, as the 1-0 advantage held through the end of the period.

Minutes into the second half, Yeshiva (1-10, 1-5 HVIAC) leveled the score on a strike by Merav Saden Barach, assisted by Danielle Orenshein.

In the 73rd minute, Jokela struck again, scoring the eventual game-winner on an assist by Sadie Zavgren (Wilton, N.H./Homeschooled).

Moments later, Cat Ha (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/International School of Ho Chi Minh City) put away her first career goal, putting the Gryphons in front, 3-1. The last 10 minutes saw a flurry of shots, including two from Yeshiva and three by SLC. In the end, the score held, sending Sarah Lawrence into the inaugural HVIAC Championship tournament.

Jokela finished with five shots on the day, followed by Zavgren and Shannon Sullivan (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Regional) with three shots apiece. Between the pipes, Addie Rosenberg (New York, N.Y./Fusion Academy) returned to action and picked up two saves. Yeshiva's Annie Jaffe defended five shots in goal for the Maccabees.

WEST HARRISON, N.Y.— It was an evenly played contest throughout, but the Maccabees fell on the short end of a 3-1 decision to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe, Sarah Lawrence College in women's soccer Tuesday evening.

The visiting Gryphons took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on a goal by Sofie Jokela.

Early in the second half, Yeshiva evened the score on a team-leading seventh goal of the season by Merav Sadan Barach at 51:15. She took a through ball from Danielle Orenshein and powered past the Sarah Lawrence defense before blasting it past the goalkeeper for the score.

From there, the majority of the second half saw a lot of neutral zone contesting with neither team holding an edge. Sarah Lawrence held a 16-8 advantage on shots, while the Maccabees held a 6-2 edge on corner kick attempts.

Sarah Lawrence though got the break it needed and salvaged a pair of goals in the final eighteen minutes to put the game away. Jokela scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at the 72:03 point, before a strike by Cat Ha at 78:11 added the insurance.

Annie Jaffe played well in goal and made five saves for the Maccabees who celebrated senior night after the game for its two seniors, Sara Shamir and Yael Roberts.

Sarah Lawrence's Addie Rosenberg made two saves for the Gryphons.

Yeshiva returns to action on Thursday for a game against York College at Aviator Field at 8 p.m.
