MILTON, N.Y. – Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences junior Jessica Monzyk captured her third straight individual championship but SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry placed six runners in the top 10 to win the team championship as the 2015 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country championships was conducted on Sunday afternoon at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.
Monzyk, who earned all five HVIAC Player of the Week honors awarded this season, covered the 5-kilometer course in an even 20 minutes—23 seconds better than her winning time last year—for a 40-second victory over SUNY-ESF freshman Marissa Lathrop and leading the field of 59 harriers.
SUNY-ESF freshman Erin Cuddihy placed fourth, Courtney Pittman followed in fifth and Mighty Oaks harriers paraded in eighth place through 14th place for a combined score of 28, bettering runner up Albany Pharmacy by eight points.
Rounding out the six scoring teams were Pratt Institute, The Culinary Institute of America, The College of New Rochelle and Vaughn College.
