Five Towns College to Host 2020 HVIAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Women’s Volleyball Championships

Dix Hills, N.Y. – Five Towns College has been selected to host the 2020 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's & Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball Championships. The basketball semifinals will take place on Saturday, February 15, with the championship games to be played on Sunday, February 16. The volleyball semifinals and final will be played on Saturday, October, 31, 2020. All tournament games will be held on the campus of Five Towns College.

"The HVIAC is excited to bring the basketball and volleyball championships to Dix Hills," commented Director of Sports Information and Championships Anthony Macaulay. "We are thankful for the many years the College of New Rochelle hosted our championships and are confident that Five Towns College will continue to provide a high-quality event for our student-athletes and fans."

These events mark the first time that championships will be held at Five Towns College. The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference voted in Five Towns College this past spring for membership effective this upcoming 2019-20 season.

"We are humbled and excited to host the 2020 Men's and Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball Championships at Five Towns College," said Athletic Director Matt Guercio. "We look forward to providing all participants, coaches, administrators, fans and spectators with a first class event." 

All games will be streamed live on webcast by the Five Towns College Mass Communications Division. WFTU (1570), the radio station at Five Towns College will provide play-by-play, color commentary, and sideline reporting during both championships.

"This will be a great opportunity for our student reporters and broadcasters to gain experience with such important playoff games," said WFTU General Manager Matt O'Leary. "It'll be great for us to showcase our talented broadcasters to a larger audience."
