Men's Basketball: Vaughn 93, Pratt 31

BROOKLYN – Vaughn College forced 23 Pratt first half turnovers in the Warriors 93-31 win over the Cannoneers in both teams' Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference openers Monday night at the ARC.

The visitors' stingy full-court zone pressure forced 14 turnovers before Pratt got on the scoreboard, opening up a 27-0 lead over the first 8:30, going ahead 42-3 two minutes later and taking a 49-15 lead into halftime.

In all, the Warriors forced 37 Pratt turnovers leading to 25 steals, 51 points off turnovers and 26 fast break points, 18 of which came in the first half. In the halfcourt, Pratt was held to 19.6 percent shooting on the night compared to 48 percent for Vaughn, which outrebounded Pratt 54-35.

Warriors forward Jeffrey Noel led all players with 29 points on 13-19 shooting in only 27 minutes. Guard Rashad Luckett followed with 18 points and five steals in 20 minutes, and Michael Pena came off the bench for 16 points, five steals and four boards.

For Pratt, Aaron Nininger led the team with eight points on a 4-5 effort at the line, and Ari Grant added seven points and a game-best three blocks to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Pratt returns to play Friday night at Sarah Lawrence College at 7:30 p.m.
