NEW YORK — Five Towns College freshman Angel Chavez was selected Player of the Year and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry freshman Zachary Bernard was tabbed as Rookie of the Year as the 2021 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Men's Soccer Team was announced today.
Chavez had an impressive rookie season leading Five Towns to an unblemished league record scoring in all five league games and the game-winner in four of them. His 18 goals on the season rank fourth in the USCAA.
Bernard totaled a pair of goals and a trio of assists in conference play helping the Mighty Oaks to a second-place, regular-season finish. He netted the game-winner in a 1-0 triumph over Word of Life.
Word of Life Bible Institute/Davis College Head Coach Justin Lough and Assistant Coach Alex Hackett were named Coaching Staff of the Year guiding the Huskies to a third-place finish in their first season in the league.
In total, 12 men were honored with All-HVIAC recognition for outstanding play throughout the season.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year were selected by the conference’s men’s soccer head coaches prior to the tournament based on regular-season conference play.
