Men's Tennis: Pratt 6, Webb 3

BROOKLYN – Pratt did not allow a point in sweeping first and second doubles, as the Cannonners opened Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with their first victory of the season, downing Webb Institute, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Activities Resource Center (ARC).

Paul Thirouin (Houston, TX/George Washington University Online High School), the reigning HVIAC player of the week, teamed with Nick Minichiello (Leonia, NJ/Leonia) to sweep Webb's Andrew Vogeler and Seth Jones, 8-0, to return to their wining ways after suffering their first loss as a tandem to Baruch on Saturday.

Thirouin and Minichiello would also go on to win their respective singles' flights by identical 10-1 margins.

Not to be outdone, Andrew Barkett (Mansfield, OH/Lexington) teamed withHubert Chen (Vancouver, BC/Heritage Woods Secondary) to best Webb's Glenn Burnett and Brent Hill, 8-0, in second doubles, giving the Cannoneers (1-5) victories in first and second doubles for the first team this season.

Barkett would go on to defeat Jon Hale, 8-2, in third singles. Chen then outlasted Webb's Kevin Prichard, 10-6, in fourth singles. The singles' flight victories by Barkett and Chen sealed Pratt's win over Webb (0-1).
