BROOKLYN –  The Pratt Institute men's tennis team began their Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule by downing Webb Institute, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon in the ARC.

The Cannoneers (2-4, 1-0 HVIAC) won the afternoon's first point, as the tandem of Ben Erickson and Simon Salazar posted an impressive 8-3 victory in No. 1 doubles action. After Webb rallied to win the second doubles flight, Pratt's pairing of Aris Azarmsa and Taeyoung Chang ousted Webb's Seth Jones and Brent Hill, 8-3, to give the Cannoneers a 2-1 advantage heading into the singles portion of the match.

Following Erickson's 10-1 decision in No. 1 singles, Pratt's Hubert Chen played one of his most consistent matches of the spring – a 10-6 triumph in the No. 2 singles flight. Simon Salazar was challenged by Webb's Duane Lee, however he was able to take the tiebreaker and the match, 11-10 (7-3). Johnson Meng and Azarmsa followed Salazar's performance with a pair of convincing wins, 10-5 and 10-3, respectively.

Up Next – The Cannoneers are back in action on Friday, April 6, when they welcome the University of Maine – Fort Kent Bengals to the ARC. First serve is slated for 6:00 p.m.
