BROOKLYN -- Pratt Institute improved to 4-1 in 2014 with a 9-0 blanking of Berkeley (NY) College Thursday night in both teams' Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis conference openers at the Pratt ARC.

Five Cannoneers shut out their Knights opponents by the score of 8-0 in singles play, and three continued season-long unbeaten streaks. Carson StanchSarah Conant,Gabriella GuerraMegan Basaldua and Stefani Reynolds worked 8-0 wins in second through sixth singles, respectively.

Two-time HVIAC Player of the Week Agata Jakubowska, meanwhile, notched an 8-1 win over Victoria Mikalsen-Sandstad in No. 1 singles, improving to 5-0 on the year. Guerra moved to 5-0 with a No. 4 singles sweep of Jigme Sangmo, and two-time Rookie of the Week Megan Basaldua upped her mark to 5-0 with an 8-0 blanking of Elisabeth Enriquez in fifth singles.

Pratt won all three doubles matches 8-0, with Sara Berndt and Luija Zhu teaming for their first win in two tries out of the No. 3 spot.

Atop the HVIAC at 4-1 (1-0 HVIAC), Pratt returns to play Friday, October 3 against NCAA Division-II opponent LIU-Post at 5:30 at the ARC.
