2012 Volleyball Championship Central

Format:  Single elimination tournament, All teams qualify

Quarterfinals

Saturday, November 10th (at Sarah Lawrence College)

#2 Sarah Lawrence def. #7 Medgar Evers, 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-13)

Jomana Abdallah posted a match-high 11 kills with a .316 hitting percentage, Brooklynn Moore dished out 22 assists with six aces and Molly Busk had a match-highs of 11 digs and eight aces to propel Sarah Lawrence (17-13)  to a convincing, straight-set victory over the Cougars.

Catheline Joseph paced Medgar Evers (1-22) with four kills and five digs, both team highs.  

#3 New Rochelle def. #6 Yeshiva, 3-1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-13)

The Blue Angels got off to a slow start losing the opening set, 25-22, but rebounded to take the match in four sets only trailing once and holding the Maccabees to 13 or fewer points in the final three sets.

Cydney House led the College of New Rochelle (10-13) landing 13 kills and eight aces, both match highs, also adding eight digs.  Elizabeth Johnston doled out 34 assists for the Blue Angels who totalled 44 kills.

Kerrin Ast led Yeshiva (2-15) with four kills and Shira Genauer brought up a match-high 20 digs.

#4 Culinary def. #5 Pratt, 3-1 (14-25,  25-14, 25-15, 25-21)

The Steels recovered after dropping a 25-14 opening set to take sets two and three in convincing fashion.  The Cannoneers threatened to force a deciding set leading 21-20 in the fourth before the Steels clinched a spot in the semifinals winning the final five points.

Laura Cipolletti led Culinary (9-5) with 12 kills, Allison Penney added 10 kills and Kristin McGinn handed out 27 assists along with 13 digs for a double-double.

Deniz Ozguven paced Pratt (3-6) with six kills and a match-high 18 digs.
