Freshman Emma Webster (Cadyville, NY / Saranac High) dropped 23 points as the ACPHS Women beat Davis College 69-55 today to stay undefeated in the HVIAC at 2-0. The Panthers are now 7-7 on the year, while Davis falls to 9-10 overall and 2-1 HVIAC.

The first half was tightly contested, with both teams having their good and bad moments. A senior Rebecca Foote (Arcade, NY / Pioneer) jumper put ACPHS ahead 11-6 with five minutes left in the 1st quarter, but Davis stormed back with seven straight points. The first ended with the teams knotted at 15.

In the 2nd, Albany opened up a six-point lead which was their largest of the half after a three from Webster at 1:41 left. Webster led all scorers in the half with 12, all of them coming from behind the arc (4-8). Davis cut it to four before the close of the half, and the teams went into the break with the Panthers up 32-28. ACPHS assisted on 12 of their 13 made field goals in the half, compared to just six of 11 from the Falcons. Foote and Dannie Griffin (Paramus, NJ / Paramus Catholic) were right behind Webster with eight points apiece at the halfway point.

The Panthers and Falcons traded blows to open the half until Webster caught fire again. With Albany up four, the freshman guard hit threes on back-to-back possessions, followed by a Dannie Griffin steal and fast-break lay-up. Altogether, the Panthers went on a 15-2 run and finished the 3rd up 53-37. Webster hit one more three for good measure to bring her game total to seven.

Davis scored the first seven points of the 4th to cut the Panther lead to nine, but were not able to get any closer the rest of the way. The assists were the story of the game, as ACPHS ended up assisting on 22 of 24 made field goals.
The Panthers starters each had at least three assists, with Griffin posting a game-high six. Griffin's line at the end of the day was 17 points, 13 boards and six steals to go along with her six assists. Webster added five assists and two steals to her 23 points. For Davis, Broke Lewandowski scored led the team with 16 points, while Candace Winkel added 14 and Gabrielle Harvey had 10. The Panthers out-rebounded the Falcons 35-28 on the day.

Next up, ACPHS has a non-league matchup with Hamilton College on Monday, January 23rd at 6pm in Albany. Davis College travels to College of New Rochelle on Wednesday January 25th.
