BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute has hired Luis Sepulveda as the head coach of the Cannoneers women's volleyball program, athletics director Walter Rickard announced on Monday.

"We are thrilled to add Louis to our coaching staff. We look forward to him, his experiences, and his personality leading our program," Rickard said. "Louis is an accomplished, experienced coach on the club, high school, and collegiate levels, and we think that personally, he is a great fit for us at Pratt."

Sepulveda joins Pratt from Baldwin High School, where he was the head coach of the girls varsity volleyball team. During his two seasons with the Bruins, Sepulveda was 24-8. Sepulveda has compiled a 49-21 record overall in five seasons as a head coach at the high school level.

"I'm extremely excited to take over the program here at Pratt," Sepulveda said. "I look forward to building a strong, successful program for years to come."

In Sepulveda's first season at Baldwin High, the Bruins went 10-2, winning the Baldwin Invitational, placed 2nd in the Long Beach Classic and reached the county finals for a third straight season.

Prior to his time at Baldwin High, Sepulveda was in charge of the girls volleyball program at Island Trees High School, where he inherited a program that was 2-14 and amassed a 28-14 record, guiding the Bulldogs to a conference championship.

Sepulveda was also the assistant coach at Nassau Community College where he helped the Lions win three straight Regional Championships. At NCC, Sepulveda was responsible for the offense, setters, and recruiting. 

In addition to his high school and collegiate coaching experience, Sepulveda has also coached at Sportime (LI) Volleyball club where he worked with various age groups.

A New York City native, Sepulveda played his club volleyball for Big Apple New York. He served as captain of John Bowne High School and also played at Queensboro Community College.

Coach Sepulveda has an associate degree from Westchester Community College and earned his bachelor's in communications and media arts from the State University of New York at Oneonta.

Sepulveda is married, and he and his wife enjoys spending time with their amazing three-year old son.
