Women's Volleyball: Pratt 3, Culinary 1

HYDE PARK, NY -- Pratt Institute women's volleyball remained undefeated at 6-0 with a 3-1 win at Culinary Institute of America in both teams' Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener, later besting Yeshiva University 3-0 on Sunday.

Reigning HVIAC Player of the Week Hannah Calderwood turned in her most impactful performance of the season, leading all players with 16 kills and only 3 errors on 25 attacks, hitting a sizzling .440 on the match in part to Abby Nagy's match-high 30 assists.

Junior Rachel Goatley sent home 10 kills and a match-best six service aces, and senior Berryl Perron-Feller added 11 digs, all season bests.

Calderwood led Pratt to a .151 attack percentage as a team, while the Steels hit only .034. Led by Goatley's six and two each from Charlotte Burch and Patricia Morales, the Cannoneers totaled 10 aces to seven for Culinary.

Burch bested Calderwood's outstanding line in the win over the Steels with a season-high 15 kills on 26 swings and only three errors, hitting sweltering .462 in the 3-0 win over Yeshiva. Goatley hit .250, adding eight errors on 20 attacks with only three errors, as Pratt hit .210 as a team, with the Maccabees hitting -.056.

Senior Joan Wyeth held off the Macs attack with a match-best 12 digs, and Calderwood denied the net with a solo block and a block assist. Burch and Goatley fired three aces each, the latter adding seven digs as the Cannoneers improved to 6-0 (1-0 HVIAC).

Louis Sepulveda's club returns to play on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Cedar Crest College and at 5:00 against host Marywood College.
