NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Led by Tournament MVP Imani DeBose (Carson, Calif.), regular season champion The College of New Rochelle defeated No. 2 seed Davis College in straight sets to claim the 2018 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball championship on Saturday evening at the CNR Wellness Center.

The Blue Angels (13-15) capture their sixth-straight HVIAC title without dropping a set in completing an unblemished campaign against league opposition. The victory also extends CNR’s win streak in conference and tournament play to 34 matches dating back to the 2013 season.

DeBose pounded a tournament-high-tying 19 kills and hit .429 with four aces to earn her second Tournament MVP honor—also receiving it as a rookie in 2016.

The semifinals saw the Blue Angels quickly bypass No. 4 Culinary Institute (0-12) in straight sets with DeBose pounding nine kills at a blistering .727 clip to pace the attack.

The second semifinal saw No. 2 Davis College (10-5) overcome a combined 41 kills from Isabelle Sandmeyer (22 kills) and Samantha Klozik (19 kills) of No. 3 King's College (9-10) to win in four sets. Linnea Sweeney put away 16 kills to lead the Falcons to their first finals appearance.

In the title game, DeBose slammed a match-best 10 kills, paired with five digs and three aces as the Blue Angels raced out to early leads in all three frames and cruised to their eighth overall title. Last year's MVP Simaima Fukofuka turned in another strong effort adding nine kills, five blocks, and four aces in the final.
