The Davis College Falcons volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Saturday, losing to the College of New Rochelle (CNR) Blue Angels in 3 straight sets and then falling in 5 sets to the Pratt Institute Cannoneers.

After starting off the season 3-0, the Falcons knew this match-up with the College of New Rochelle would be a big test.  CNR has won the last 5 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships and true to their reputation, the Blue Angels came out tough, taking the first set of the match by a score of 25-14.  The Falcons would get going in the second set, keeping it close the whole way before CNR pulled away 25-22.  In the third and deciding set, the Blue Angels cruised to victory posting a 25-11 win.

Newcomer, Michaela McLeod, led the charge for the Falcons as she posted 4 kills, 9 digs, and 2 blocks.  Erica Stockwell also contributed 16 digs in the contest.  CNR had a very balanced attack with the team combining for 38 kills in the 3 sets.  Imani DeBose led the team with 11 kills.

In the second match of the day, CNR played the Pratt Institute.  Pratt would take the first set before CNR took the momentum back and won the next 3 sets of the match.

The final match of the day was between Davis College and Pratt Institute.  Pratt took the first 2 sets rather convincingly by scores of 25-16 and 25-20, respectively.  It looked as though they would win the match in 3 straight sets but the Falcons had other ideas.  Davis came out in the third set determined not to go down easily and beat Pratt 25-16.  They road the new momentum in the 4th set and won that one as well, 25-17.  The match would come down to a very closely contested 5th set.  Both teams went back and forth before Pratt was able to hang on to secure a 16-14 win.

McLeod once again led the way for the Falcons.  In this one she posted 12 kills, 11 digs, and 2 service aces.  Linnea Sweeney also had a strong match with 10 kills, 5 service aces, and 28 digs.  Stockwell led the team with 45 digs and Loryn Sanders had 18 assists.  For Pratt, Marlena Todd had 9 of the team's 40 kills and Ivana Santascoy added 35 digs and 4 service aces.

Davis College (3-2) will look to rebound quickly as they play Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Davis College.  The two teams matched up in the first contest of the season as Davis took that one by a score of 3-2.
