The ACPHS Men's Soccer team further solidified their HVIAC playoff standings by beating Webb Institute 8-2 on Sunday, October 19, 2014.

The Panthers started scoring early when the broke through the Webb defense in the 4th minute of the match off a low cross from Alex Perry-Ferrari that Mina Ishak finished into the Webb goal.  Four minutes later Mina Ishak scored again, when he buried a low cross from Kyle Perry into the net. Ishak completed his hat trick in the 14th minute when he converted a penalty shot after a hard takedown by Webb in their penalty area.  Kyle Jenkins set up the fourth goal, when he went around the Webb keeper and slotted the ball to Zak Giorgi for the finish in the 23rd minute of play. In the next minute of play, Kyle Jenkins almost finished a shot to far post but, as it was going wide, Steve Roback raced from the right side and laced it into the goal; this was Robaclks first collegiate goal. With 16 minutes remaining in the opening period, Steve Roback once again found the back of the Webb net, when he stole the ball from the keeper 25 yards out and got his second goal of the game.  At the end of the opening half, ACPHS was ahead 6-0.

The Panthers quickly found the scoring touch 1:18 into the second half when Ryan Mack sent a direct kick from ACPHS's half of the field over the wall to Kyle Perry. Perry settled the ball and laced it from 30 yards out into the lower right corner of the goal.  The Webb team showed its true colors as they kept fighting hard for the ball.  They were finally rewarded with 19 minutes remaining when their leading scorer, Ryan Chozick, got an unassisted goal with a low shot to the right side of the ACPHS goal.  Three minutes later Chozick scored again off a blast to the left side of the ACPHS net.  The scoring ended with two minutes remaining when ACPHS took a corner kick that a number of Webb players tried to clear and an equal number of ACPHS players tried to finish; finally Matt Burkettwas able to step in and blast the ball into the Webb goal. At the sound of the final horn, ACPHS walked away with a key HVIAC victory over Webb, 8-2.

With the victory the Panthers improve their record to 6-6-2 (HVIAC 4-2). ACPHS plays in the HVIAC semifinals next Sunday, October 26, 2014. The Panthers opponent, location and time of game is still to be determined. Stay tuned for more information  on the Men's Soccer Team and the HVIAC Playoffs.
