Women's Tennis: New Rochelle 7, Vaughn 2

FLUSHING, NY -  The College of New Rochelle Womens Tennis team earned its first victory of the year, a huge Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Vaughn College, Thursday night at the United States Tennis Center.  The final was 7-2 in favor of CNR.   CNR is now 1-7 on the season and 1-1 in HVIAC, while Vaughn falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in HVIAC.

Freshmen Sydney Thompson (Chelan, WA) picked up her 2nd win of the season - and week - at first singles by a 10-2 score, while freshmen Chloe Wang (White Plains, NY) also earned her 2nd triumph of the year at 2nd singles 10-1.  First time winners included sophomore Iyesogie Aghahowa (Bronx, NY) at 3rd singles by a 10-0 margin, sophomore Yveline Lamothe (Uniondale, NY) 10-1.  At fifth singles, freshmen Jhosalie Danseco (Bronx, NY) won the most exciting match of the night, coming back from a 6-3 deficit to win 10-8.

CNR also won 1st and 2nd doubles to round out the 7-2 win.  Thompson and Wang won at 1st doubles 8-3 while Lamother and Aghahowa won 2nd doubles by the same exact score.

On Thursday, October 6, the women's tennis team battled the College of New Rochelle (CNR) in their second match of the season. The young and inexperienced Warriors team competed in six singles matches and three doubles matches. Vaughn College fell to the Blue Angels 7-2. 

Freshman Chloe Eimunjeze (New York, NY)  was very impressive in her singles and doubles matches against the Blue Angles. Eimunjeze's play helped earned two points for the Warriors. First she defeated her number six singles opponent 10-6. Then she teammed up with teammate Cheres Castaneda (Brooklyn, NY) in the number three doubles position. They defeated their opponents in a thrilling fashsion, winning their match 8-7. 

The women's tennis team will return to action on Saturday, October 8, in a conference match-up against the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute.
