Women's Tennis: Pratt 9, Vaughn 0

BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute bested visiting Vaughn College 9-0 in the Cannoneers Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon at the ARC.

Sophomore Neeka Gilardian knocked off Maia Rivers 10-3 in No. 1 singles play, teaming with Haddie Webster for an 8-0 blanking of Rivers and Emily German in first doubles. Webster, making her No. 2 singles debut, dusted German 10-1.

In her first action at No. 3 singles, freshman Cory Marks shut out the Warriors Grace Davis 10-0. Marks paired with senior Cailyn Culp for an 8-0 win over Davis and Chloe Eimuojeze, whom Culp bested 10-0 in No. 4 singles.

In No. 5 singles, Cannoneers freshman Huize Wu defeated Vaughn's Cheres Castaneda 10-2. Pratt freshman Ivy Fu took care of Renya Almonte 10-3 in sixth singles and coupled with Wu for an 8-1 No. 3 doubles victory over Almonte and Castaneda.

At 6-3 overall (1-0 HVIAC), Pratt returns to the court in HVIAC play Saturday at the College of New Rochelle.
