BROOKLYN -- One match after firing 34 aces in a three-set win, Pratt Institute connected on 26 aces in the first-place Cannoneers 3-0 win over visiting Yeshiva University in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) women's volleyball play Thursday night at the ARC.

Pratt sophomore Alice Vicente (Lisbon, Portugal/Georgian Court Univ.) gunned a team season-high 14 aces, besting the 10 Alli Houghton (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) totaled in the team's 3-0 win over Cooper Union six days ago. Vicente added a team-high 12 digs to complete a rare three-set triple-double, leading all players with 10 kills and a .381 attack percentage. Houghton tossed 19 assists and added six aces as Pratt improves to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in HVIAC play.

Two of sophomore Hannah Calderwood's (Clinton, WA/South Whidby) five aces led to a timeout from Maccabees head coach Joseph Agrest trailing 13-7. Three straight Houghton aces led to another timeout with Pratt on top 20-8, and a kill and an ace from Vicente closed out Pratt's 25-8 Game 1 win.

Once a Vicente kill snapped a 3-3 tie, an amazing 10 aces -- including streaks of five and three in a row -- from the outside hitter in Pratt's 15-0 run distanced the Cannoneers in the middle set. Kills from Calderwood and Vicente bookended a Yeshiva timeout at set point, turning out the lights on a 25-7 Pratt win.

Yeshiva took advantage of four early Cannoneers errors, and one of Emily Rohan's (Dallas, TX/Yavneh) team-high two kills sent the Macs out to a 5-2 lead in the third set. One of Calderwood's six kills tied the game at 7-7. With the set knotted at 10-10, a Vicente kill sparked a 15-3 run that she finished with four straight aces in a 25-13 Pratt win.

As a team, Pratt hit .169 (23/11/71), holding Yeshiva to a -.237 average. FreshmanAbby Nagy (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) added four kills and nine digs, and in her first action as a Cannoneer, Joanna Yeung (Rego Park, NY/Townsend Harris) totaled two solo blocks while playing only one set.

Rohan led the Maccabees (0-7, 0-3 HVIAC) with two aces, two assists and a match-high 14 digs.

Winners of five straight to start 2014, Pratt returns to play against King's (NY) College at the Culinary Institute of America tri-match on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with the Cannoneers taking on CIA in the 4:00 nightcap.
