Pratt tabs former CUNYAC head coach Ashley Greene to lead women's volleyball

BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute has named Ashley Greene head women's volleyball coach. She joins Pratt from York College, where for three years she was the head coach of the CUNYAC program.

"We're extremely excited to have someone with Ashley's combination of energy, passion and experience leading our program as we look to maintain a championship level of play for years to come," said associate director of intercollegiate athletics Ryan McCarthy.

Greene joins Pratt from York, of the City University of New York Athletic Conference, where she was the head coach of the Cardinals from 2012-2014. Most recently, she developed middle hitter Stayce Kay Muirhead, who set York's single-season record for blocks and was named All-CUNYAC First Team in 2014.

She is currently the head coach of the Under-17 travel team at the C.A.L.I. Volleyball Club out of Hempstead, NY. Prior to C.A.L.I., she led the L.I.V.E. Volleyball Club Under-18 travel team in New Hyde Park, NY.

Greene was a three-year member on the women's volleyball team at SUNY Old Westbury, earning All-Skyline Conference Second-Team accolades in 2010 and 2011, leading the Panthers in kills and ranking second on the team in hitting percentage both years.

She graduated from Old Westbury in 2011 with a degree in secondary mathematics education. She is a teacher at Packer Collegiate Institute in Downtown Brooklyn.

Greene takes over for Patricia Keenan '05, who resigned after a seven-year tenure as head coach capped by the most successful season in program history. The Cannoneers finished 15-4 in 2014, coming in second place in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and advancing to the HVIAC Championship. The team returns five starters, including HVIAC Player of the Year Alice Vicente.
