Women's Volleyball: New Rochelle 3, Culinary 0; New Rochelle 3, King's 0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The College of New Rochelle women's volleyball team traveled to The Culinary Institute of America on Saturday, October 28 for a HVIAC tri-match to finish their regular season. The Blue Angels would play against the host team, CIA Steels, and the King's College Lions.

CNR 3 - CIA 0
The Blue Angels opened the day with a match against the Steels. CNR would take the match in three straight sets, 25 - 10, 25 - 7, and 25 - 11. The offense for the Blue Angels had a stellar showing ending with a percentage of .471. Sophomore outsides Victoria Alomar (Naranjito, P.R.) and Imani DeBose (Carson, CA) would lead the team offensively. Alomar had the highest hitting percentage of both teams, .692. She finished the match with nine kills off 13 attempts, three aces and eight digs. DeBose brought in 10 kills off 16 attempts, with a percentage of .625. She also added three aces and nine digs. 

CNR 3 - TKC 0
The second match of the afternoon would be the Blue Angels and the Lions. It would be a three set sweep for CNR, 25 - 6, 25 - 11, and 25 - 17. The CNR offense would outperform itself finishing with a .486 percentage. Sophomore right side / setter Cristal Michelle Liciaga (San Juan, P.R.) tallied 16 kills off 24 attempts and a hitting percentage of .542. Graduate student Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) attributed to the offenses success dishing out 21 assists on the match. Lopez Soto would lead the team with 10 digs and add three aces on the match. 

The women's volleyball team will compete in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament as the number one seed. CNR will host the HVIAC Championships at the Wellness Center on Saturday, November 4.
