Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #1)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #1 of the 2022-2023 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

Mail Binen (Sr.,Guard) from The Kings College netted 20 points shooting 45% from the field in a 78-63 loss to Five Towns College. His contribution still warranted the Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor.

John Travis Shearin (Fr., Forward) from Word of Life Bible Institute earned Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week status. Shearin is averaging 33% from beyond the arch and 83% from the field.

Nolan Shepard (Jr., Forward) Villa Maria College, and Matthew Dembinski (So., Forward) Word of Life Bible Institute, scored in double figures and honorable mention performances in Week #1.

On the Women's Basketball side of the conference, both honorees are from Vaughn College.

Eliyah Howard (So., Guard) led the Lady Warriors of Vaughn College to two victories and the Women's Basketball Player of the Week selection for Week #1. Howard scored 33 points and dished out 5 assists against Webb Institute. She followed up that performance with 21 points and 11 rebounds(double-double) against the New School.

Tehilyah Murray (Fr., Forward) in similar fashion to her teammate, Murray had an impressive week for the Lady Warriors. Murray is averaging 22 points per game and 57% shooting from the field. After a 33 point game she followed up with a double-double a few days later against the New School, earning her Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week status for Week #1.

Kayli Hayden (Fr., Forward) Word of Life Bible Institute, Autumn Adams-Edwards (Sr., Guard) Villa Maria College, and Athena Sarris (Fr., Guard) Villa Maria College, all scored in double figures, worthy of honorable mention for Week #1.
