The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #6 of the 2022-2023 Men's and Women's Basketball season.
Jihadu Brunner (So.,Guard) from Berkeley College is Week #6 Men's Basketball Player of the Week. In Berkeley's 101-90 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta, he scored 38 points, connecting on 13 of his 17 attempts from the floor, including 4 of 7 from long range. In addition, he made all 8 of his free throw attempts, grabbed 5 rebounds, and tallied 2 steals. A day later in the Knights loss to the Lynx of NHTI, Brunner contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds, and a game-high of 5 steals.
Karranja Bright (Fr., Forward) of Berkeley College earns Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors. In Berkeley College's 101-90 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta, Bright connected on 8 of his 11 attempts from the floor, finishing with 20 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and registered four assists. A day later, in the Knights loss to the Lynx of NHTI, he netted 10 points (4-6 FG) while snatching 4 boards.
On the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC, the honors continue for Berkeley College in Week #6.
Amal (Cammy) Mahmoud (Sr., Forward) of Berkeley College earns the honor of Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Mahmoud scored a team-high of 20 points, while grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. She also tallied two steals and swatted a shot. Unfortunately, the Knights dropped the game to the Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta. A day later, in a Knights 63-52 victory over the NHTI Lynx, she converted on 7 of her 12 attempts from the floor, finishing with 16 points and a game-high of 16 rebounds.
Jasmyn Maisonet (FR., Guard) from Berkeley College completes a sweep of Weekly Awards for Berkeley College as Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week. Maisonet put forth a productive performance coming off the bench to score 15 points in 12 minutes. The Knights would be defeated by the Moose of the University of Maine at Augusta, but Maisonet's performance earns the honor for this week.
