Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #9)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #9 of the 2022-2023 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

Mail Binen (Sr., Guard) from The Kings College is named Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Binen averaged 25.5 points per game, including a 37 point game high against the Culinary Institute of America. The Lions went 1-1 in conference play during Week #9.

John Travis Shearin (Fr., Forward) of The Word of Life Bible Institute. Shearin scored 13 points and grabbed 14 boards in a tough loss to HVIAC opponent, SUNY ESF. In spite of the loss his performance as a Freshman earns the honor of Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Notable performances, Quentin Lackey (So.,Forward) from Word of Life Bible Institute. Lackey scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and stole the ball 2 times in the Huskies loss to the Mighty Oaks. Abel Tamiru (So., Forward) of The Kings College averaged 16.5 points per per game, shooting an impressive 46% from the field, as the Lions went 1-1 versus HVIAC opponents. And, Abner Caliz (Fr., Guard) from the Culinary Institute of America. Caliz scored a team high of 12 points, shooting 50% from the field, against The Kings College. The Steels went 0-2 against HVIAC rivals in Week #9.

There are no selections on the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC, as no games were scheduled during Week #9.
