BRONXVILLE, NY -- Pratt Institute locked up a second straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season crown with a 9-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College in road men's tennis play Thursday night.
Pratt's Sergio Yarritu earned wins in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, sweeping Johan Blake 10-0 in singles play and teaming with Eli Eskenazi for an 8-5 top singles victory. Junior Andrew Barkett earned a convincing 10-1 win over Jack Bell and teamed withMoritz Petre for a 6-0 No. 2 doubles win.
Playing his first action of 2014, Shane Davis cruised by Michael Grayster 10-2 in sixth singles, and Fan Mo bested Ben Dougherty 10-2 in No. 4 singles. Davis and Mo paired for a 6-2 No. 3 double win over Bell and Dougherty, as Pratt locked up a second straight regular crown and moved to within a match of a second consecutive undefeated conference finish.
At 5-4 overall and 4-0 in HVIAC play, Pratt returns to the court against St. Joseph's (BK) Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Cunningham Sports Center.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In a makeup match, Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis was defeated by Pratt Institute, 9-0, in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Andrews Courts on Thursday.
Starting with singles play, Pratt (5-4, 4-0 HVIAC) earned the first team point with a 10-0 win at No. 1 singles.
In the No. 2 singles match, junior Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School) rallied from a 6-1 deficit but was eventually defeated, 10-7. Pratt followed with a 10-1 win in the No. 5 match.
Junior Adam Neufeld (Bronx, N.Y./The Calhoun School) kept the No. 3 singles match competitive, opening the match to a 4-4 deadlock. His Cannoneer opponent won six of the next eight matches to clinch a 10-6 win. Pratt clinched the match with wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles.
In doubles play, Warkus and Neufeld found limited success. Though the Gryphon pair held a 4-3 edge, Pratt responded to win the match 8-5. Pratt completed the sweep with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Sarah Lawrence (4-9, 3-2 HVIAC) rounds out the season at the 2014 HVIAC Men's Tennis Championships, Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
