NEW ROCHELLE, NY - For the first time in its 112 year history, the College of New Rochelle will field a Men's Soccer team next fall.  CNR Director of Athletics and Wellness Center John "Jay" Butler announced Friday, that Nate Kalin will be the program's first head coach.

"The College of New Rochelle is excited to name Nate Kalin as our inaugural men's soccer coach.  CNR is blessed to have Coach Kalin at the helm of starting our men's soccer program.  Nate has a vast array of experience and his recruiting networks in the NYC Area and nationwide will be an asset in building our program.  I had the honor of working with Nate and believe he brings the perfect combination of passion, teaching expertise and leadership to the CNR Athletic Department.  We look forward to the future and the opportunity to mentor and lead a generation of young men at CNR", remarked Butler.

Kalin comes to CNR with nine years of head coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level.  He spent the last three seasons at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, where he turned a struggling program into a Skyline Conference contender.  In 2013, Kalin joined the Dolphins and immediately made a positive impact guiding the team to nine straight wins to open the season and finished with the first winning season in recent history (12-5-2).  The next season the team made its first-ever Skyline Playoff appearance, bowing out in the quarterfinals. In 2015, Kalin led the team to its best season ever, making the Skyline semi-finals, with a 12-7-2 mark.  He finished with a 33-22-2 mark, the programs highest winning percentage.

In three seasons with CMSV, he mentored two Skyline Rookie of the Year recipients (Kevin Jardines and Dennis Reyes), a Regional Rookie of the Year (Dennis Reyes), and three NSCAA All East Region players, as well as six Skyline All-Conference picks.

Before CMSV, Kalin spent six seasons at NYU-Poly.  Over his tenure at NYU-Poly, the program went from last place, to four straight Skyline Conference playoff appearances in 2009-2012. He coached one Skyline Rookie of the Year, two NSCAA All-Region players, and nine All-Conference players. In 2009, he was named Skyline Coach of the Year.  At NYU-Poly he also served as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information and Compliance.

"I am honored to lead the first-ever Men's Soccer team at CNR.  I want to thank the administration and Athletic Director, Jay Butler, for entrusting in me to build this program", said Kalin. "With such amazing and ongoing support, I have no doubt, CNR will quickly become one of the top NCAA teams in the region."

CNR will play its inagural game on Sept. 1 at John Jay College.
