The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team struggled on Monday evening, falling to the Blue Angels of the College of New Rochelle by a score of 8-0 in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest played at Flowers Park in New Rochelle, NY. With the loss, the Knights dropped to 3-8 on the 2016 campaign, and 3-3 in league play, while the first-year Blue Angels upped their mark to 9-2 on the year, and 3-0 in HVIAC play.

The College of New Rochelle scored the lone goal of the opening session in the 16th minute of action when Nicorey Warren collected a beautiful lead pass from Gerson Arroyave Jr. before blasting the ball into the net to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Blue Angels out-shot the Knights 11-3 for the half, and went into the locker room with that aforementioned lead.

In the second half, the College of New Rochelle put the match away. Warren would score two more goals within the first seven minutes of the session (at 45:35 and 51:55) to put his team ahead by a score of 3-0. Later – at 53:20 - Angel Gonzalez added a tally (from Rodriguez Cesar), and Jovanni Garcia would then add a goal at 58:50 (from Allan Ramirez) to push New Rochelle's lead to 5-0. A pair of Allan Ramirez goals (at 60:00 and 63:03) – and another by Cesar later on – capped the scoring for the Blue Angels.

Not only were the Blue Angels hitting on all cylinders offensively, but the College of New Rochelle also did a fantastic job defensively, limiting the Knights to just one shot attempt in the second half of play – and four for the match.

The Knights will now have three days off before returning to action on Saturday, October 8, as Berkeley College will travel to Syracuse, NY to battle SUNY-ESF in another Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. Start-time for the contest is scheduled for 3:00pm.
