BROOKLYN – Pratt Institute Athletics has hired Jonas Worth as assistant athletic director and head coach of the Cannoneers returning men's and women's soccer programs, athletics director Walter Rickard announced today.

"I am very happy to have Jonas join our athletic staff. Jonas has great experience as an administrator and a soccer coach," said Rickard. "He has shown great enthusiasm for Pratt through the process and embraces the challenges and potential that go along with building a quality soccer program and expanding our recreational programs."

Worth joins Pratt from Iona College, where he served as the assistant director of academic services and an assistant coach for the Gaels' men's and women's soccer teams.

"I am excited to join the Pratt community because it is exactly that: a community," Worth
said. "Building a soccer program from scratch is a challenge I have endured before but the uniqueness of the Pratt Institute program will be an outstanding starting point to attract brilliant student athletes."

As the assistant director of athletics and recreation, Worth will coordinate all wellness and recreation programs at Pratt's Activities Resource Center (ARC), as well as off-campus recreation trips. Additionally, Worth will direct Pratt's intramural programming and direct its fitness classes and instructors.

"My experience at other small institutions gave me some great insight on how to integrate the student-athlete and recreation experience into the academic identity," Worth added. "My goal is to create an environment where students feel their growth is based on a sum of all the institute has to offer."

At Iona, Worth was responsible for the academic success and NCAA compliance of Iona's student-athletes. Additionally, Worth was the Athletics representative on Iona's Committee on Diversity.

On the soccer pitch, Worth joins the Cannoneers with over ten years of collegiate and semi-pro coaching experience. Before Iona, Worth was an assistant with the Laval (Quebec) Comets of the United Soccer League's W-League, a professional women's soccer league spanning the U.S. and Canada, assisting the Comets to first place in the Northeast Conference in 2015. He was also on the staff of the W-League franchise in Quebec City. He also served on the staffs of the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), Concordia University (Quebec), Quest University Canada (British
Columbia), and the University of Toronto.

From 2011-13, Worth created and implemented all aspects of Quest's soccer program from its original conception through its first match, ranging from fundraising and community liaising to the recruitment of student-athletes and academic compliance. He also served as Quest's sports information director and facilities manager.

As a player, Worth played goalkeeper semi-professionally and has received his international coaching education from countries such as Brazil, Germany and the United Kingdom. He completed his UEFA B license in 2007 with the English Football Association and National Soccer Coaches Association of America Premier Diploma in 2008 before finishing a master's in sport psychology at UBC in 2010.

Worth graduated with a bachelor's in Humanistic Studies and Hispanic Languages from McGill University in Montreal and received a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the London School of Journalism.

A New York City native, Worth is also the owner and program director of Pelada Soccer in Squamish, Canada.
