Lee Named Player of the Year as All-HVIAC Men's Tennis Team Revealed

FLUSHING, N.Y. — Webb Institute freshman Duane Lee was named the 2017 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year as the league announced the members of the 2017 All-HVIAC Men’s Tennis Team at the conclusion of the HVIAC Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Lee, a one-time Player of the Week, was the best player on the Webb squad and collected three wins from the No. 1 singles position.

Culinary Institute of America freshman Justin Rife was named the league's Rookie of the Year compiling an unblemished 3-0 record at singles and a 2-0 doubles mark, helping the Steels to the regular season title.

Webb Institute head coach Pat Doherty repeats as Coach of the Year, his fifth time receiving the honor.

Eight men were honored by the conference for outstanding play throughout the season and three were repeat honorees, including Vaughn's Ahmed Aly who collected the award for a fourth time.

The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards are selected by the men's tennis coaches in the conference.
