CORONA, NY – The Pratt Institute men's tennis team fell to conference rival Culinary Institute of America 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at the USTA Tennis Center.

Ben Erickson and Rongxin Zhang again gave Pratt the early lead, registering an impressive 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Following close loses in No. 2 and 3 doubles, the Cannoneers trailed 2-1 entering singles action.

Erickson and Zhang continued their spectacular afternoons, fending off tough competition and taking No. 1 and 2 singles respectively. Following a loss by Hubert Chen in No. 3 singles, Simon Salazar put Pratt on the verge of victory by defeating Culinary's Gabby Berrios by a score of 10-2. Leading 4-3, both Johnson Meng and Taeyoung Chang couldn't seal the match as the Steels emerged victorious by a score of 5-4.

For Pratt, the loss drops them to 2-3 (2-1 HVIAC) while Culinary improves to 4-1 (3-1 HVIAC).

Pratt returns to action next Friday with a non-conference home contest against New Rochelle at 6:00 pm at the Pratt ARC.
