Women's Basketball: Yeshiva 85, Vaughn 66

NEW YORK, N.Y.— Julia Owen recorded her second career triple-double, while fellow teammate Stephanie Greenberg and Simee Rosner both had double-doubles as the Yeshiva women's basketball team earned an 85-66 win over Vaughn College in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up at Baruch College's ARC Arena Tuesday evening.
 
Owen netted 19 points, to go along with 13 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and three blocked shots, while Rosner had a team-high 25 points with 12 rebounds. Greenberg added 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Rachel Mirsky had 14 points in the win.
 
Owen's first career triple-double came when she had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a game at Division II Mercy College on November 21, 2013.
 
Vaughn College was led by Cianna Peterson with 32 points, while Maia Rivers had 23 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Yeshiva never trailed in the contest and took the lead for good when the Maccabees took a 4-2 lead early in the game. Yeshiva opened the contest on a 20-6 run to take command.  Vaughn had pulled to within four points of the lead and was down 22-18 with 7:24 to play capping a 12-2 run. The Maccabees answered by outscoring Vaughn 17-4 over the final seven plus minutes of the first half to lead 39-22 at halftime.
 
In the second half, Vaughn opened with a 7-2 surge to make the score 41-29 with 18:42 to play. But Yeshiva quickly answered with a 16-0 run to go ahead 57-29 and Yeshiva coasted to victory from there.
 
Yeshiva dominated many facets of the game as the Maccabees held a 25-13 edge on points off turnovers, 50-18 on points in the paint and 18-14 on second chance points.
 
The win improves Yeshiva to 2-6 overall and 1-0 in HVIAC play, while Vaughn College is now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the HVIAC.
 
Yeshiva is back in action on Thursday for a game against Berkeley College at the ARC Arena at 8 p.m.
