The Berkeley College women's basketball team halted its five-game losing skid on Thursday evening in a big way, defeating the Pratt Institute Cannoneers in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest by a score of 101-18 in a contest played at the Pratt Athletic Resources Center in Brooklyn, NY. With the victory, the Knights improved to a record of 12-7 on the season, including a mark of 4-1 in conference competition, while the Cannoneers fell to 0-6 on the 2014-2015 campaign, and 0-5 in league play.

The game was competitive in the early stages, with the Knights leading by just eight – 14-6 – with 13:17 remaining in the opening session. It was all Berkeley from there, though, as the Knights outscored Pratt Institute 39-4 for the remainder of the period to take a commanding 53-10 advantage into the locker room at halftime. When play switched to the second stanza, Berkeley's swarming defense would allow just three Cannoneer field goals, as the Knights outscored Pratt 48-8 in the game's final 20 minutes to account for the 83-point win.

Leading the way for the Knights in their win was rookie sensation Champagne Hazel, as he scored a game-high 34 points while connecting on 15 of her 27 shot attempts. She also added nine steals, eight rebounds, and five assists, as well. Jasmine Sanders netted 26 points and snatched four boards in 27 minutes off the bench, and Patricia Patterson dropped-in 17 points while posting game-highs in rebounds with 15 and steals with 11. Finally, it was Janay Thomas draining six of her nine shots while grabbing eight rebounds, tallying four assists, and recording four steals.

Berkeley College shot 51.1 percent from the floor (48-94) while holding Pratt Institute to just 17 percent shooting (8-47). The Knights out-rebounded the Cannoneers 53-35, and Berkeley forced 42 opponent turnovers – turning those miscues into 49 points of their own.

Despite the loss, Pratt Institute got eight points apiece from Natali Basoski and Maria Castillo.

The Knights will look to make it two consecutive wins tomorrow evening, as Berkeley College will host Briarcliffe at the Wellness Center on the campus of the College of New Rochelle. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
