ACPHS women's soccer coasted to a 7-1 over the College of New Rochelle on Sunday, getting a pair of hat tricks from star juniors Katie Benson (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) and Erin Tersegno (Webster, NY / Webster Thomas). With the win, the Panthers are now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the HVIAC. The Blue Angels are 0-1 now both overall and in conference play.

Benson scored three goals in the game's opening nine minutes, which would give ACPHS a lead they would never relinquish. Benson's first was all her own, when she stole the ball of a New Rochelle defender and lifted it just under the roof of the net. On her 2nd, she got help from Tersegno who raced passed numerous defenders and put in a low cross that Benson would tap in. The dynamic duo linked up again just three minutes later, with a goal very similar to their first. Tersegno grabbed two of her own to close out the half, and the Panthers held a 5-0 advantage heading into the break.

New Rochelle got a goal back in the 2nd half, but that was canceled out by senior Kennedy Rives' (Austin, TX / Shenedehowa) goal shortly thereafter. Tersegno wrapped up the scoring in the 82nd minute, netting her 6th goal of the year and completing her hat trick. Freshman goalie Arica Tehan (New Hartford, NY / New Hartford) earned her first collegiate win, and is now 1-0 in her career.

ACPHS is back in action this Thursday, September 24th, when they take on Florida National.
