Women's Tennis: Pratt 9, St. Joseph's 0

QUEENS -- The Cannoneers clinched a third straight HVIAC regular season title and a third straight undefeated season in conference play with a 9-0 win over St. Joseph's. College in HVIAC women's tennis play at the USTA National Training Center Friday night.

HVIAC Rookie of the Week Agata Jakubowska (No. 1 singles), Sarah Conant (No. 3) and Gabriella Guerra (No. 4) all earned 10-1 wins in singles play. For the unblemished Guerra, the win improves her to 9-0 in singles play, 2-0 in the four spot.

In doubles action, Jakubowska and Sarah Conant improved to 9-1 with an 8-1 No. 1 singles victory. Seniors Janet Lee and Rachel Caires picked up their first win of the season with an 8-2 No. 2 doubles win. Playing in her first official match as a Cannoneer, Lujia Zhu teamed with senior Rose Wong for an 8-4 No. 3 doubles victory.

Friday's shutout of the Bears marks Pratt's third straight undefeated season in Hudson Valley play. Overall, the Cannoneers have won 14 straight HVIAC matches.

At 9-2 on the season, Pratt takes a week off before returning to play against Yeshiva University on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. The Cannoneers will honor seniors Caires, Lee, Wong and Whitney Mills at the senior day match indoors at the USTA.
