ALBANY, N.Y. — SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry sophomore Joseph Kulikowski (Grand Island, N.Y.) was selected as Player of the Year as the members of the 2017 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Men's Soccer Team were announced at the conclusion of the HVIAC Tournament yesterday.
Also claiming top honors were Berkeley College freshman Marcos Leon who was tabbed Rookie of the Year and SUNY ESF head coach Dan Ramin who was named Coach of the Year.
Kulikowski led the Mighty Oaks to an unblemished 9-0 mark in league play scoring 11 goals with four assists. He found the back of the net in seven of ESF's nine league wins and had multi-goal efforts in four of them. Overall, he finished the regular season with 16 goals and eight assists finishing second in the league in points.
Leon helped Berkeley to a third-place team finish compiling six goals and five assists in league play. The rookie was second on the team overall with 21 points, ranked eighth in the league.
SUNY ESF head coach Dan Ramin was named Coach of the Year for the third straight year also sharing the honor on the women's side. Ramin led ESF to the regular season championship for the first time with a perfect 9-0 league record and finished 13-4-1 overall. His Mighty Oaks were also ranked in the Top 10 in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Coaches' Poll.
In total, 21 men were honored with the All-HVIAC recognition for outstanding play throughout the season and five were repeat winners with Webb Institute senior Ryan Chozick a four-time selection.
The HVIAC All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year are selected by the conference’s men’s soccer coaches based on regular season conference play.
