The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team stretched its unbeaten streak to six matches on Saturday afternoon as the Knights picked up a 4-1 victory over the Pratt Institute Cannoneers in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. The match took place at the No. 83 field at Randall's Island. With the victory, the Knights improved to 6-3-1 on the season (4-0-1 in league play), while Pratt Institute fell to 2-9 on the 2017 campaign (1-4 HVIAC).

In what was the Knights' first match ever against the Cannoneers, Berkeley College struggled in the opening session. Despite recording 13 shots (and peppering five of those on net), Berkeley College was unable to find the net. Pratt Institute was able to get on the scoreboard in the first half, though, as Natt Slober would score in the 29th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead after gathering a loose ball and beating Luis Zenteno. As the teams broke for halftime, the Cannoneers had a one goal advantage.

Berkeley College broke through for a slew of goals in the final 30 minutes of action. The first of those four tallies came courtesy of newcomer Hallgri Tryli, as he received a pass from Meshema Charles and beat Pratt netminder Jack Foster bottom left to tie the game at 1 (at the 60 minute mark). 11 minutes later, Marcos Leon notched an unassisted goal to give his team a 2-1 edge. Leon and Charles would then score unassisted goals at 80:00 and 84:00, respectively, to account for the 4-1 final score.

The Knights dominated in the shots category, out-shooting the Cannoneers by a margin of 30-5. The stifling Berkeley College defense – which has now allowed just six goals total in its last six matches – only allowed Pratt to take one shot in the final 45 minutes of action.

Berkeley College will look to extend its unbeaten streak to six matches – and run its October record to 3-0 – when the Knights take on Vaughn College Wednesday evening. The match will take place at the No. 10 field at Randall's Island.

Berkeley would extend their lead in the 71st minute following Marcos Leon's goal off a deflection. The Knights would hit for two more as prevail 4-1.

After the game, coach Jonas Worth talked about this game as it relates to the developing a program.

"A game like we had today, against a quality opponent, is part of the process of building a strong team and a strong program. We have so many young players and we want to get them prepared to grow and learn the game so we can be competitive in this conference in the near future. As far as today goes, I'm pleased with our progress."
