RANDALL'S ISLAND, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's soccer team fought hard to a 3-1 defeat against Berkeley College (NY) on Sunday afternoon in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

The visiting Maccabees scored the first goal early in the game on a goal by Sara Shamir during the seventh minute. The early goal proved to be enough for Yeshiva to lead into halftime as the Maccabees lead 1-0 at the break.

Berkeley scored three goals in the second half to take the lead and win. The Knights tied the score at one at the 49:20 point on a goal by Wendy Valladares. Berkeley then took the lead when Frida Sintiem scored at the 63:08 mark. Kerry Ann Houghton added an insurance goal for the Knights with 15:20 to play.

Yeshiva held a 22-18 advantage in shots. Merav Saden Barach fired eight shots for the Maccabees, while Jennifer Shamsian and Shlomit Braun took four each. Houghton took 11 shots for Berkeley to lead all players.
