Medgar Evers College Names Avril O'Neal Head Women's Volleyball Coach

BROOKLYN, NY -- After a five year hiatus, Avril O'Neal has been named the 2013 Medgar Evers College Women's and Men's Volleyball Head Coach. Ms. O'Neal is no stranger to the Carroll Street campus, as she was the Head Coach for both teams from 2000-2008. Avril coached the Men's Volleyball squad to a 2003 CUNYAC Finals and NECVA appearance in just their 3rd season as a varsity sport. With Coach Avril's experience, the Women's Volleyball Team, showed improvements while she was at the helm. The Barbados native played at Division II, University of New Haven from 1993-1996. She was also a member of the Barbados National Volleyball Team from 1987-1994.
                                                                                       
Outside of Medgar Evers College, Ms. O'Neal has held jobs in as an a Assistant Teacher at Educare Child Care Center in Brooklyn, worked at The University of New Haven as a Dispatcher and Student Patrol Officer, Chamber of Commerce in New Haven Connecticut, as a guide for the Center City during the 1995 Special Olympics, and most recently a member of the Church of The Nativity Bishops Committee and parishioner since 2010.
 
Avril graduated from University of New Haven in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.
 
Avril has a son and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
