NEW ROCHELLE, NY – In an HVIAC match critical to seeding in the upcoming conference tournament, The College of New Rochelle posted a straight set, 3-0, win over Culinary Institute of America this morning at the Wellness Center.  The win moved the Blue Angels (15-11, 5-1 HVIAC) a half-game ahead of the Steels (8-3, 4-1 HVIAC) in the HVIAC standings.

Meghan King and Marissa Armstrong each tallied a match-high nine kills, with King adding six digs and three aces and Armstrong adding 13 digs and two aces.  The nine kills gives King 300 on the season, extending her already school-record tally.

Kylie Thesz chipped in with seven kills (posting a .333 hitting percentage), three total blocks, three digs and two aces.  Indigo Flowers handed out a match-high 24 assists to go along with six digs and match-high five aces.

The win set a new program mark for wins in a season, besting the previous record set in the 2009 season.

The Blue Angels captured the first set thanks to a wire-to-wire win.  After scoring the first seven points of the match, CNR led, 18-10 before CIA ran off six straight points to pull within two, 18-16.  The Steels drew as close as one, 23-22, before the Blue Angels closed out the set for the 25-22 win.

Flowers began the second set with service for CNR, and three aces and two Armstrong kills later, the Blue Angels had earned a 5-0 lead.  CNR extended the lead to 8-1 before the Steels again began to claw their way back into the match, eventually pulling even at 22-22.  With the score tied at 23-23, Flowers was there again to serve out the set and 25-23 win.

The teams exchanged the first 10 points of the third set before CNR gradually pulled away for a 25-18 win, securing the match and equaling the program record for conference wins.
