Women's Volleyball: Pratt 3, Yeshiva 0

MANHATTAN -- The Cannoneers took a huge stride in securing a fourth and final playoff spot on Thursday, going on the road to beat Yeshiva, 3-0, in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball play.

Pratt middle hitter Hannah Calderwood controlled the net on both sides, posting a career effort for which the Maccabees had no answer. The freshman threw down 12 kills on 17 error-free swings in totaling a .706 hitting percentage, a season high for any Cannoneer on the year. She added a solo block and a block assist as 6-7 Pratt evened its HVIAC resume at 3-3, putting the team in the driver's seat to lock up a playoff berth with sole possession of fourth place.

Junior Diana Lezama added a double-double of 16 digs and 10 kills, erring only once on 21 attampts for a .429 attack percentage, as Pratt notched a season-high hitting average for a second match in a row, this time at a robust .321.

HVIAC aces leader Alli Houghton added to her league-leading total, firing five service aces and also leading the match with 24 set assists. Freshman Charlotte Burch chipped in with six kills and no errors on 12 attempts for a .500 hit percentage to go along with 11 digs.

With her five aces, Houghton now leads the league at 1.32 aces per set. Calderwood controls third in the league in attack percentage at .263.

Pratt returns to play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in non-conference play at York College. The Cannoneers play host to Sarah Lawrence College (2-17, 1-3 HVIAC) Monday night with a chance to wrap up a playoff berth.

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's volleyball was defeated 3-0 (12-25, 15-25, 19-25) by Pratt Institute on Thursday evening in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
 
The loss drops the Maccabees to 0-5 (0-2 HVIAC), while Pratt improves to 6-7 (3-3 HVIAC).
 
Yeshiva was led by Makena Owens with seven kills and six digs, while Sarit Zukowsky had six kills and five digs. Marjorie Rasinovsky  added three kills, two service aces and eight digs, whileJackie Berger had four kills.
 
Pratt Institute was led by Hannah Calderwood with 12 kills (no errors) on 17 attack attempts for a .706 attack percentage. Diana Lezama had 10 kills (one error) on 21 attack attempts for a .429 attack percentage to go along with 16 digs and four service aces. As a unit, Pratt had 31 kills (six errors) on 78 attack attempts for a .321 attack percentage.
