ALBANY, N.Y. - ACPHS Men's Soccer finished up league play today, with a 10-0 win over Webb Institute. Sophomore Kyle Jenkins (Holbrook, NY / Sachem East High School) and junior Zak Giorgi (Whitesboro, NY / Whitesboro High School) led the way for the Panthers, who finished HVIAC play with a 6-1 record, and a 10-4 record overall. With this loss, Webb drops to 2-5 in the HVIAC, and 2-6 overall.

The game started each of the Panthers' three healthy seniors in the starting lineup. Kyle Perry (Irasburg, VT / Lake Region Union HS), Samuel Alonso (Whitney Point, NY / Whitney Point HS), and Alexander Perry-Ferrari (Rochester, NY / Gates-Chili HIgh School) all suited up today for ACPHS. The injured Ryan Mack (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley High School) did not make an appearance.

Zak Giorgi opened the scoring in the 6th minute, after a nicely weighted pass from sophomore Jack Hanlon(Guilderland, NY / Guilderland High School) put him through on goal. Giorgi finished over the top of Webb goalie Kevin Prichard, to give the Panthers an early 1-0 advantage. Shortly thereafter, in the 8th minute, Hanlon got on the scoresheet himself following a nice passing move between the senior Perry and sophomore Matt Houlihan(Levittown, NY / Kellenberg Memorial High School). Hanlon rocketed a shot into the far corner, which put ACPHS ahead by two. Just two minutes later, Houlihan picked up his second assist when he released sophomore Kyle Jenkins in on Prichard. Jenkins chipped the ball over and on-rushing Prichard, for his 5th goal of the season. Giorgi then netted again in the 18th minute, following another nice pass from Hanlon behind the Webb defense. After a goal by Webb was disallowed due to an offside flag, senior Alexander Perry-Ferrari joined the party with a curling right-footed shot that beat the Webb keeper near post. Sophomore Mina Girgis (Canyon Country, CA / John Burroughs HS) capped off the Panthers' explosive half, and Hanlon got his third assist, in the 26th minute. The goal would put the Panthers up 6-0, and this is the advantage they would head into halftime with.

The Panthers would keep their foot on the gas in the second half, putting up another four goals against an overmatched Webb defense. Giorgi finished his hat-trick in the 55th minute with his 16th goal of the season. Houlihan and freshman Austin Morley-Sloan (Watertown, NY / Ogdensburg Free Academy) then picked up their first goals ever for ACPHS, bookending Jenkins' 2nd of the day. Giorgi was the star of the game with his hat-trick but the box score was littered with big stat lines. Jenkins recorded two goals and two assists, Hanlon a goal and three assists, and Houlihan with a goal and two assists. The Panthers outshot Webb 32-5, and Webb was not able to put a shot on target against freshman goalie Kevin Frevele (Cooperstown, NY / Cooperstown High School), who earned his first win of his collegiate career.

At 6-1, the Panthers will be the #2 seed this Saturday October 24th when they host the #3 seed SUNY-ESF Mighty Oaks at 9am in the HVIAC Semi-Finals at ACPHS Athletic Field. If they earn a win, the Panthers will face the winner of the #1 seed Berkeley College and #4 seed Vaughn College matchup on Sunday October 25th at 11:30am. The winner of the HVIAC men's soccer Championship will earn and auto-matic bid to the USCAA National Tournament in Ashville, NC.
