Women's Basketball: New Rochelle 71, Albany Pharmacy 56

ALBANY, NY - The women's basketball team traveled to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for their second Hudson Valley Intercollegiate match up of the season. The team came out ready to play and earned their first conference win of the year by a score of 71 - 56. The Blue Angels were led by sophomore guard Dar'Neisha Brice (California, MD) who scored a career high 38 points against the Panthers.  The win moves the Blue Angels up to third place in the HVIAC standings.

The College of New Rochelle found themselves down by one at the end of the first quarter after Albany Pharmacy sank a three - pointer with seven seconds to go. 

Senior Caitlin Harrison (Bronx, NY) started the second quarter with a layup off a fast break to bring the Blue Angels up by one point. Over the next five minutes Brice and Melissa Perez (Queens, NY) scored a combined 11 points to pull CNR out in front of the Panthers by twelve points. Albany Pharmacy answered back in the remaining four and a half minutes to get within five points going into the half with a score of 32 - 27. 

The start of the second half was the time for the Blue Angels to pull away. It was a team effort in the third quarter as six Lady Blue Angels added points to the score board. This teamwork led to The College of New Rochelle outscoring the Panthers 25 - 16. 

The final quarter of the game continued in the Blue Angels favor as they added 14 points to secure the win over the conference opponent. The game ended with a final score of 71 to 56. 

Dar'Neisha Brice had five assists, six steals, and one block to add to her 38 points. Sophomore Ashley Martin (Queens, NY)  grabbed 15 rebounds in the win and added eight points. Senior Chelsea Thomas (Bronx, NY) dished out seven assists and netted eight points. 

The women's basketball team hopes to continue their winning ways on Tuesday, January 23 at Vaughn College. The game will be played at Elmcor Recreational Center at 6:00 PM.
